1. The Organisers advise that all competitors be competent swimmers and wear life jackets. Competitors in all events take part entirely at their own risk.
2. Competitors must be above 16 years of age.
3. Rudders, centre boards, are not allowed
4. Drums of minimum mass 14 KG (45 gallons, 205 ltrs) whole standard mild steel to be used, not alloy. A minimum of 1 drum for each person. Outriggers are allowed provided they are made of the standard drums.
e.g. A12 Barrel Raft must have a minimum weight of 173 kg allowing 5 kilos for accessories.
5. The welding of raft
is permitted.
6. A bow
and stern are allowed on the raft, they can be made from any material. They
must not extend more than 100cm from the last
drum, They are to be designed in a manner that avoids
injury
7. Paddles made of a "metal alloy" or with sharp
edge are not permitted
8. The Judges will check that all rafts comply with the above rules prior to the start of the event. The Judges decision in any matter is final.
9. In mixed crew categories, the number of men and women should be equal.
10. The crew of a raft is to remain the same between a heat and a final, however one substitute is allowed per crew.
11. The Team members will be issued with identity Cards,
12. Deliberate ramming of another raft or any form of intentional obstruction to another raft will result in disqualification. The Judges decision is final. There will be no Appeal
13. The Rafts must follow the course, passing around the wrong side of a marker buoy will result in disqualification.
14. A mast one meter in height, is to be fixed to the back of the raft for the identification number
15. Raft will now be weighed on the evening prior to the race.
